The Crugen HT51 is Kumho’s Highway All-Season tire developed for drivers of light-duty pickups, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles looking for durability, a comfortable ride and all-season capability, including light snow traction.

The Crugen HT51 utilizes an all-season tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design with an optimized geometric block layout for maximum treadlife. The five-rib tread design features a stiff center block design for improved straight-line stability and enhanced dry traction. Four wide, circumferential zigzag grooves create a vortex effect to enhance water flow-through, increasing hydroplaning resistance, while 3D zigzag sipes provide the biting edges necessary for light snow traction.

Beginning in the 13th week of 2017, all Crugen HT51 tires manufactured are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, indicating they are severe snow service rated. Tires manufactured before this date may not bear the 3PMSF symbol, but all Crugen HT51 tires meet the standards required for severe snow service rating.

The tire’s internal structure consists of a two-ply polyester cord body for enhanced ride quality and improved strength. Two wide steel belts sit on top of the casing and are reinforced by two spirally-wrapped nylon cord caps, enhancing handling, durability and stability at highway speeds.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

  1. I replaced the factory Goodyear Assurance tire with this tire. The ride is smoother, quieter and more stable. I drive with Blizzaks when winter hits but the first 1-3 weeks of winter were with these tires and they did great. At 20,000 miles, the tires show very little wear. Based on this I should get 60,000 miles with no problem, may push 80,000. The value is the amazing thing. At about $125 per tire, this is the only tire I will put on my Suburban and any other car I own.

  2. These tires are equals to the Michelin LTX that came on the truck except for wear. I have a diesel and pull a heavy 5th wheel trailer. The drive tires are almost worn out at 15,000 miles. These wore so quickly that I didn’t get a chance to rotate them. The fronts appear to be nearly new at the 15,000 mile point. Because of the need for snow traction I will have to replace the rear tires somewhat before they are completely worn out. However I don’t see then lasting more than 1000-3000 miles more. However these are the nicest riding tires that I ever had on this truck.

  3. These tires have performed well, with one exception. They disappoint me in heavy rain. When they hit some standing water, they veer to the side more than any other tire I can recall having. A couple weeks ago, rounding a gentle curve on the expressway in moderate rain while towing a light trailer (about 250 lb tongue weight), for a half-second they lost traction for no obvious reason, and it scared me; this is with 7/32″ tread remaining. I’m thinking of replacing these tires already, even though usually I’d wait until I was down to 4/32″.

  4. Very pleased with the tires. Haven’t had them that long or thru a winter yet.

  5. Bought those tires in October 2018 for my wife’s 2015 Toyota Sienna and made about 7k miles. Good test was on February 2019 when we went to Grand Canyon. It was a rain and snow. Driving was perfect. I really like these tires.

  6. Very impressed with the quality of this tire. Slightly rugged feel, great for any truck. Excellent value. Showing almost no wear after 8 months. I am buying them again.
