The Scorpion Verde (Italian for green) All Season Run Flat is Pirelli’s eco-friendly Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season run-flat tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, sport utility vehicles and prestigious pickups. Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat tires feature Pirelli Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology that enhances safety and convenience by providing temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Pirelli Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology allows tires to literally “run flat” for up to 50 miles at 50 mph (80 km at 80 km/h) unless otherwise specified by the vehicle manufacturer for Original Equipment tires. The Ecoimpact* icons on the Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat sidewalls highlight the tire’s environmentally-friendly contribution to increasing vehicle fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions compared to Pirelli’s earlier CUV/SUV tire lines. The Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat is designed to combine dry and wet road handling, comfort and year-round capabilities, including all-season traction in light snow.

The Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat molds a silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that features an optimized rubber-to-void ratio and uniform contact patch to blend dry road traction and performance with uniform wear. Four wide circumferential grooves displace water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while longitudinal siping provides lateral stability on loose surfaces and high-density lateral siping enhances wet and wintertime traction. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength and durability on top of a polyester cord body. Pirelli’s extended mobility solution is made possible by their MIRS computer-controlled robotized manufacturing system, a production process that assures consistency in the application of the additional sidewall reinforcements that provide the self-supporting run-flat capability.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required.   1. This is my third set of Pirelli Verde All-Wx Run Flats. Mounted them on MB 20″ wheels since taking delivery of the car in late 2012. Bot them for an MB ML350 Diesel that my wife drives who wanted a run-flat tire so that she would not have to change a tire in the middle of nowhere. Originally, concerned that run-flats would be a performance compromise, but have not ever felt so. Got about 36,000 miles out of each of my first two sets. This is a good, all-around tire but gives up something in absolute high performance. This new set (installed in Jan 2019) seems to be a real improvement over my last sets in terms of feel: softer, more responsive? Have used these in light snow and black ice and they were solid but not what snow/ice tires would have done. For Houston temps and wx, and my wife’s driving style, these are a perfect tire for all year round use. I expect to get another 36,000+ miles from this set. I do rotate and re-balance every 5-6k miles. I run these 20″ tires at 38psi instead of the MB recommended lower pressures: feels and drives much better, IMO.

  2. Extremely poor wear capacity. I have these tires on an Audi. I also own a BMW X5 and had 85,000 miles on the original four tires before I needed to replace those tires. I would not buy this tire. I drive slowly, do not exceed the speed limit, corner slowly and anticipate braking situations to reduce wear on tires. All these habits have previously allowed me to replace tires anywhere between 85,000 and 100,000 miles. The Audi with the tires I am reviewing provided just 25,000 miles before told I would need to replace these in the near future. Pirelli saw me coming.

  3. As the miles add up the tires have gotten very loud and the ride has become very harsh. Responsive is ok, as is overall traction in a variety of conditions. Treadwear is disappointing and will need replacement at about 25,000. I am a Pirelli fan, but these tires are a disappointment.

  4. Without question the WORST tires I have ever owned! Tires are down to the wear bars at 21000 miles and are so loud that the service rep at Audi thought the front wheel bearings were shot. Never been so disappointed in a tire. I hate run flats (hard riding and noisy from the factory) and will be replacing with a non run flats.

  6. Well I was skeptical from the beginning about the Pirelli run flats. But that’s what Audi puts in the new vehicles. They started out fine and now they are making more noise than a NYC subway train. Just awful. There still decent tread on the tires. It started at 17K miles and they are very expensive tires to replace. I am going to complain to the dealer.

  9. I’ve had two sets of these tires, and two blow-outs. Both blow-outs had plenty of tread, and no damage to the tire prior to the blow-out.I balance the tires as soon as the car seems a bit off, and rotate them about every 5-6000 miles. Once you feel them go out of balance, I get the car in to get them perfect. Problem is, the third time they feel a bit out of balance, I get a blow-out. Likely wont buy a third set. These tires handle great when new, but make me nervous once they have a few miles on them.

  10. I bought the Pirelli Scorpion run-flats about 3 years ago to replace the OEM Michelin MXM4 non-run-flats. The amazing thing about these tires is although they are run flat (and therefore have stiffer side walls) they actually have a better ride than the original non-run-flat tires. They are also superior in all weather conditions, from dry to rain to snow. They are just better, period.It should be noted that the handling, ride, traction ratings I am giving here are versus other all-seasons I have had. They are certainly not in the same league as the Pilot Sport summers in dry warm conditions or Blizzak winters in the winter that I use on other cars. But as a compromise all season tire they are actually better than most I have tried.The only downside is the tread life. At 28,000 miles the tire is nearly at the tread wear bars and needs to be replaced before the winter comes. Then again, the OEM Michelins were used up at around 27,000 so maybe this is par for the course for this type of tires. I’m likely buying another set in the next month.

  11. These tires lasted 35,500 miles on the front. Outside edges are worn smooth, but this is because it sees lots of windy back roads, not because of alignment issues. The rears have probably 5,000 miles left. I’m replacing on the fronts due to cost. These have been great tires, the dry grip is outstanding, but that’s probably more credit to the suspension on the X5. The road noise is negligible. The wear has been a bit below expected, but 35,000+ miles is respectable on a 5,000lb SUV that sees windy roads often (and a few parade laps at the local race track). Snow traction is what you’d expect from all-(no)-season tires.

  12. At 15,000 miles, I’m down to the wear indicator on two of the four (having religiously rotated the tires). These have been great all-season tires, as run flats go, and they handle well in snow and rain. The tread life, however, is unforgivably bad. Never again.

  13. This is the second set of these tires that I’ve had on my car. The original set lasted about 25,000 miles likely because I was driving almost exclusively on the highway. By 25k miles they were completely bald. Now with this second set I’m just under 18,000 miles on them and They are worn down past the wear bars. I am deeply disappointed in these tires and Pirelli in general. The tread wear is simply unacceptable. The dry performance is fine. Wet seems to be fine as well. In the snow They were ok but could be better. The noise and ride is horrible as well. The ride is very harsh even with my small 18 inch rims which gives more profile on the side wall. After 5,000 miles the noise become pretty bad. I follow Mercedes maintenance schedule and have them rotated with each service and keep them inflated to the manufacturers psi specs. Hopefully the Continentals will serve me better.

  14. These are the OEM tires that came with my 2015 BMW X5 and I’m very happy with them. The car is approaching 40K miles and I’m looking to replace the tires, so searched around to see if there’s anything better than these. Looks like I’ll be going with the same tires again.

  15. The tread wear is brutal. The sound quality diminished after the first 18,000K, substantially. I have had two nails and needed to replace the tires. I would not recommend this tire for the performance, wearability and price point. *Never again.

  16. So much for the hype on Pirelli Verde tires. The tread life is kind of poor, 17,000 miles and down on the wear marker bumps. I realize that all wheel drive are tougher on tires, but come on 17,000 miles and they are toast. I would expect more from a $275 tire. Wet traction is poor, snow traction is horrible. The more they wear the noisier they get. I just replaced them with Continentals …

  17. Granted these are OEM tires but we have 11,000 miles on them and we are 2 millimeters from the wear bar. I thought the run flats on my Toyota were bad (had to replace every 18,000) but this is beyond reason. Plus the tires are almost as expensive as my 911 and we get about the same usage. I have a set of Continental’s on our Jeep (16k) and granted they are not run flats but they look almost new. I will try the Continentals when I replace these at 15k. My friend has a similar Audi and said is are shot already (less then a year as he drives more).

  18. Incredibly harsh ride. All vibrations and harshness transmitted directly into the cabin. They seemed fine for the first little while, but then got unbearable. It is amazing when I switched from my winter Scorpions (great tire) to these, how much noisier had harsher these are than the winter tires. That’s a first for me. Lots of tread left with only 10k miles on them, but can’t stand them anymore so swapping them for Continentals.

  19. There is a lot to like about these tires, especially by comparison to other loud or stiff run-flats. But the tread-wear is atrocious. 16K Miles and I’m beyond the wear indicators. If they were half the cost, maybe I could make peace with half the expected mileage. At this cost, never again.

  20. These tires are OEM run flat on a new 2018 MB GLC 300 4matic SUV. I got a flat in Florida at 9,000 miles and needed a new tire. Currently have 17,000 miles on the other 3 tires and they starting getting noisy at 12,000 miles. I rotated the tire myself at 7,000 miles, dealer would have rotated at 10,000 miles. They have a little thread left but cannot stand the road noise. Pure junk. Who wants to buy a new car and have to think about replacing tires after less than 17,000. I am considering non run flat since my choices are limited with a run flat. MB did not provide any tire change equipment.

  21. Seriously what will you do if you were asked to change your tires just within 13,000 miles for a brand new car and the first service is only for 10,000 miles. The new tires is not cheap too, these tires are ripoff in my opinion….

  22. The tread life on these Pirelli Scorpion tires is terrible. 2 years and 19000 miles and they’re at the wear bar mark. I called and emailed Pirelli to discuss, and none of my messages or emails were returned. Nice customer service, guys. My experience contacting Mercedes was only slightly better, but then they have to take my call – I’m still leasing our GLC from them. They said it’s ‘normal’ for tires on these cars to last this long. Are you getting the idea that these tires were designed to last 2 years max and then need replacing? Seems like a scam to me. Perhaps registering a complaint with the FTC will draw some attention to this problem.

  23. I’d like some opinions from fellow Audi Q8 owners with the OE Pirelli tires. From the reviews, I believe that I have had better luck on treadware for these tires. I think the reason is that I kept the tires slightly overinflated (about 40psi). The tires still have legal tread. However, the noise level has become intolerable, and I’m looking for a replacement tire. There really aren’t very many choices in the 285/45R20 size.For those who have replaced the OE Pirelli tires for their Q8, which tire did you choose and why? Appreciate your opinion.Also, does anyone know why there seems to be a “new” Pirelli Scorpion Verde being offered at a much higher price?

  24. Purchased these to replace OEM Michelins that were well worn at 32,000 mi and were not the best in winter driving conditions even when newer. Overall the winter performance was very good with good traction on acceleration and braking in both icy and snow packed conditions. Dry and wet performance was also very good both in city and mountain driving. Since these run flats come with no tread warranty I expected a relatively short life for these tires of around 30-35k mi and they lasted 28,000 mi. The tread life was a bit dissapointing since the tire does handle well in all conditions and there are not many options out there in this size for run flats. Would probably buy again if I only wanted run flats because of their winter performance but switching to Continental Cross Contact LX 25 non RF and relying on a portable pump and goo instead for the next set of tires.

  25. Strong tire with lots of grip in the dry, (highway and twisty, steep mountain roads). Reasonably good grip in wet conditions (but not exceptionally, if you car has a lot of power and torque) . Reasonable wear (up to 25000 miles). But dear, oh dear: when the profile is about half way (12500 miles), the tire becomes extremely noisy, and the ride becomes harder, stiffer. Do not buy. No idea why Jeep fits these as factory new. I am on my second set on the Jeep SRT now (I didn’t like them the first time around, but where I was, they only had the same in stock when I needed replacement), but will most definitely NOT buy again. Uncomfortably noisy. And very over-priced.
