AltiMAX RT43 (Road Touring) tires featuring H- or V-speed ratings are General’s Grand Touring All-Season tire members of their AltiMAX family of flagship tires. Designed to deliver impressive consumer value through even treadwear and long treadlife, the AltiMAX RT43 combines a quiet, comfortable ride with year-round, all-season traction, even in light snow.

AltiMAX RT43 tires feature a Twin Cushion Silica Tread Compound that places a high-density all-season top compound for year-round traction and long wear above a low-density foundation compound that absorbs road vibrations to promote a comfortable ride. The tread compound is molded into a symmetric tread design featuring a continuous center rib and independent tread blocks that use sound wave suppression technology to reduce road noise for a quiet ride. Circumferential grooves and General’s Anti-Slip Sipe Design Technology increases the number of biting edges to enhance traction on slippery roads.

The tire’s internal structure features a Low Surface Abrasion Technology construction that reduces tread distortion as the tire rolls, resulting in less surface abrasion to promote even treadwear and extend treadlife. Twin steel belts reinforced by two layers of spirally wrapped polyamide stabilize the tread area for good handling while a polyester cord body enhances ride quality.

  1. 38,000 miles so far on my ’17 Honda CR-V. 90% highway driven. Tires have performed almost perfectly. Even wear, long tread life (still 6/32), quiet, good in snow, confident handling. Have never had a better tire on any car I’ve owned. Recommend 100%

  2. 1949 Ford Woodie TireRack doesn’t go back year wise for street rods, but replaced the BFG’s and like quiter ride

  3. I have had these tires on my Kia for 3 years now and just till recently they have worn down to where I have noticed a drop in performance. I drive 32 miles to work, one way, on the highway and also into city roads and have not real trouble with these tires on all road surfaces during the year. Recently I was told they were down to 3/32 on all tires and that is what convinced me to make a change. The tires have always held up in all kinds of weather, summer rains and light winter snows, again up until recently. I have not been stuck in the snows of Nebraska through three seasons and the hydroplaning resistance had kept me on the road with confidence. These were a very good choice for a tire at an affordable price which at the time of purchase was #4 for my car. I have upgraded to a better all season tire and hope they will be more reliable than the last set. If you are looking for a good, reasonably priced tire for light to moderate driving conditions, these will be a good choice.

  4. About to change out these bad boys after 3.5+ years and 68+k miles of service. Honestly, I didn’t even know they were wearing out until a coworker noticed. The wear was indeed painfully obvious, as I didn’t even need a penny to know the tread depth was pretty low. They definitely did their jobs pretty well, under mostly desert but also some wet conditions. The control was always pretty responsive, and in retrospect, there were occasional slips only with more aggressive cornering lately, which I previously attributed to my driving style but now may at least partially attribute to the wear. Fuel economy was on par with the car’s lifetime average (44.6 mpg), and they were reasonably comfortable. They may have been a little noisier than some other tires I had, but honestly it doesn’t make a difference with the music or podcasts that accompany my drives. The only reasons why I am not going back to them are the same reasons why I never use the same set of tires: if I can’t change cars, at least I can try new tires for a potentially new fun experience. The Kumho Ecsta Platinum SLs that these Generals replaced worked about equally well, but I certainly am happy about the wear, as those 65k warranted miles went by pretty fast. I can only hope the Continental TrueContact SLs I’m about to receive keep the good streak alive.

  5. CR rated them number one and they were right. A coworker purchased them and raved about the performance. I trust CR but I’ve never been a General Tire fan. CR was 100% on the mark.

  6. I’ve driven 30000 miles in all conditions and have no complaints. These were great tires on a compact car, at a great price.
