Select Your Tire Size on Tirerack

The Grandtrek SJ6 is Dunlop’s Light Truck/SUV Studless Ice & Snow tire developed for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. The Grandtrek SJ6 is designed to provide powerful traction on ice and in snow.

The Grandtrek SJ6 molds a special glass fiber-reinforced compound into a directional tread design with a wide footprint to help disperse water to reduce the risk of slipping on packed snow and ice, enhance vehicle stability on dry roads, as well as help maintain good traction on wet and slush-covered roads. Twin central zig-zag grooves create strong snow packing pillars to provide powerful acceleration and braking while independent tread blocks provide the edges to help bite through snow.

The Grandtrek SJ6 radials meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Install Grandtrek SJ6 tires in sets of four only.

Due to the revolutionary traction capabilities of the Grandtrek SJ6, Dunlop recommends using Grandtrek SJ6 tires only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

  1. This was a ‘-2’ 17″ winter tire package and found this to be excellent winter tire. I am in the ‘lake effect’ area of NY and my x3 sees 18+ inch snowfall as well as ice, slush and normal winter garbage. These tires are long wearing and very predictable in both dry and winter conditions. Handling and steering are excellent for such a big difference in tire size/sidewall vs normal summer 19″ tire. Very smooth drifting. Quite. Overall I like better than any prior winter tires I have had. Much better in certian slush condition than Xice3 which are good most of the time but once in awhile were like ‘ARE THESE BALD TIRES”?

  2. Excellent tire for deep snow, or just very cold weather driving! Holds the road, stops, accelerates, handles like the snow isn’t there.

  3. I live in the hills of western MA, where we get quite a bit of snow and ice. So I bought these Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6’s in P205/70R16 mounted on plain steel 16″ wheels for my Crosstrek for winter. They are just a tad taller and narrower than the stock P225/55R17 Yokohamas. No rubbing issues at all, and in the snow, my crosstrek is unstoppable. They are really great snow tires, and not that noisy at all. The car is not as responsive as with the stock wheels and tires of course, but no complaints. And they seem to wear very well. I will definitely buy another set when they do finally wear out.

  4. Drove with these tires for 3 years while stationed in Germany during the winter. Provided excellent traction in snow and ice. Especially in the heavy winters I experienced. Handled the high speed of the Autobahn no problem. Highly recommend!

  5. I drive 135 miles/day in WI. Highway, city, small town, country, snowy, etc. Last year I had Destinatnion LE’s with very good tread, and I was frustrated with take-off and hill climbing traction, was considering paying to put a limited slip diff in. This year, I climbed my hil plowed or unplowed in the snow ALL WINTER LONG, while my wife had to park at the bottom 3 times. Needless to say, I will be putting these on her vehicle for next year. Dry traction on take-off gets some howling w/my 4-cyl, but wet, these things are awesome. Very little noise, but does have the feel of deep tread bending in hard turns. I’ll trade it for winter traction! Wearing great at 11,000 miles, too, I’ll use again next winter. Great traction, great wear, great price.

  6. I purchased these tires for a 2014 Subaru Forester. After about 3,500 miles during a very tough winter season a can highly recommend them. Excellent grip in heavy snow, ice and wet conditions. Solid performer in dry conditions, slightly noisy at speeds over 30-40 MPH as you expect with any winter tire. Tread wear also appears to be excellent.

  7. Tires are of great quality. I usually run a different brand bit these were included when i bought my jeep compass new. Great winter grip on and off of asphalt. Wear is very steady and minimum road noise.
