Original Equipment (O.E.) self-supporting run-flat summer tires are an appropriate tire choice for sporty vehicles imported to the United States from Europe and Asia. Developed for use on new cars and light trucks, these tires offer temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete pressure loss, as well as provide a sporty blend of ride quality, noise comfort and handling, along with dry and wet traction. These tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Goodyear’s warranty states: “Ultra high-performance summer tires are not recommended for winter use, and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires resulting from winter use will not be covered under our warranty.”

Goodyear RunOnFlat (ROF) tires incorporate special sidewall reinforcements that support the weight of the vehicle even after sustaining air pressure losses that would render conventional tires immobile. While internal tire damage will likely make replacement necessary, ROF tires are designed to endure being run on while flat for up to 50 miles at speeds up to 50 mph and provide drivers the temporary extended mobility necessary to drive through stormy weather and away from dangerous situations.

Original Equipment self-supporting run-flat summer tires are most often repurchased as direct replacements for pairs and sets of worn out Original Equipment tires and ROF tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

While we attempt to provide a picture of as many of these tires as possible, the pictures used to represent these tires cannot be guaranteed to be an exact depiction of each tire’s appearance because of the variety of subtle differences in tread designs and sidewall styling.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner’s manual.

  1. DO NOT BUY. This tire was OEM in 2009 and is obsolete. Despite the name The. Model is nothing special in any performance category and made the BMW 750Li drive with mediocrity. One of 2 tires in the 275 40 19 size developed noise and vibration that got worse over the course of a month. Then the tire out of the blue had catastrophic tread separation from the cap. Limped home on steel hoping the tread would not come off and the car sat in driveway until I replaced with the latest and greatest 2017 release of a Max Performance Summer M*****n from the Tire Rack. The blown tire was driven on highways in excellent condition and never in potholed locales. The manufacture date was 5013 in Germany and it happen in week 43 of 2017 in Florida so tire was not even 4 years since manufacture and the tire was garaged 95% of its life. I am not the only one to have troubles with defect and failures which indicates that this obsolete and overpriced tire should be withdrawn from the market. One of the 245 45 19 fronts had a large chunk scallop out of the tread and may have to now replace the fronts at 50% tread life left. The rubber seems too dry compared to other tires of that age.

  2. I had Pirelli P Zero RF originally. Had a blow out on the right front at 23500 miles! It was a Sunday PM and the only option I could find quickly was GoodYear store that had a tire that would fit. So we went and had it put on and drove on to DFW. As the Pirelli only had 23500 miles and blew out I went ahead and replaced the left fron tire also. The $500 price tag was ouch! but its a $110,000 car so…We still have the Pirellis on the rear but the improvement in how the car handles surprised us. Smoother, responsive and quiet. The tires themselves look impressive and stout so when I read all the negative reviews I winced. So my fingers are crossed as Im looking at them weekly but so far my experiance has been great and if it continues I will replace the Pirellis also in the rear as the tire size is different.

  3. I replace my 4 tires on Monday morning by Good year excellence 245 45 19R 98Y. After 120 Kms in town, I blew a front left on Thursday night, with siding open on 3 inches. The next morning I did a full inspection and found a bubble pupping out on a rear tires. All tires were inflated as per BMW 535 guidance. Decision i’m facing today : 1-scrap the two left overs and move to a different brand or 2- keep going with this crap for the season. Believe me, I’m not a pothole magnet and after paying $2500, I was driving defensively. I’m Perplex, Stay away !!!

  4. This is the worst tire I have ever purchased. These tires came with my BMW 750i. I bought a new set 1 year ago and after 9000 miles, they are completely bald with uneven tread wear despite balancing and alignment. I will never buy these tires again and will caution anyone else to do the same. DO NOT BUY THIS TIRE.

  5. I was scared to dealth reading all the negative reviews on TIRERACK but after looking on other sites the tire was rated pretty good? Iwas particully impressed with how smooth, quite and responsive this tire is vs the Pirellis Zeros. I know I havent put alot of mile on them yet so time will tell but so far they are a keeper!

  6. Very noisy tires, and of course without any major impacts on the road still somehow managed to get bubble on front right tire.

  7. 2 of these tires started developing blisters at about 18,000 miles. The other 2 now have to be replaced due to cracking on the sidewalls. This car is stored inside and driven highway/city in Southern California.
