Select Your Tire Size on Tirerack

The Winterforce LT is Firestone’s Light Truck/SUV Studdable Winter / Snow tire designed for the owners of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vans, SUVs and pickup trucks. Available in Load Range E (10-Ply Rated) sizes, Winterforce LT tires are for drivers looking for traditional wintertime traction on dry, wet and snow-covered roads.

Firestone Winterforce LT winter / snow radials feature a winter tread compound molded into an aggressive directional tread pattern with tread blocks that are siped and can be studded to offer the biting edges necessary to provide traction in snow and on ice. Independent tread blocks feature high-density siping to enhance grip in loose snow while the intermediate and shoulder tread blocks are molded to accept studs that further enhance traction on hard-packed snow and ice. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts on top of a polyester casing to combine strength with ride quality.

Winterforce LT winter / snow tires meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

  1. Very mediocre winter tire, especially in Michigan’s UP which has severe winters. Have these on a 2015 Wrangler and they are just marginally better than the OEM BF Goodrich KOMs. Previously used Bridgestone Blizzak and Michelin Alpin winter tires on different cars including AWD and RWD with very good results. These Firestones are generally poor. Very easy to spin, loses traction quickly on ice or hardpack snow. Good only in deeper dry snow. After this season, they will be junked. I would replace now but too expensive at this time to get new tires. Only benefit is that they are quiet and ride nice due to softer tread compound.

  2. I live in NE Washington State, its typically dry and cold in the winter with snow and ice. But we travel to the coast a lot over several mountain passes. The OEM tires on this truck are Continental Contitac (useless in any weather except dry). They are an all season tire, but that must be for So Cal or Florida. So after the first winter (bought the truck in Dec) I knew we needed a decent winter tire. The first test was driving to Eastern Canada, and hauling back a sailboat (13500# incl trailer) the tires handled incredibly. I took a route around the top of the Great Lakes from Toronto to limit wide load permits. This part of the Trans Canada Hwy is its worst for weather. Snow, fog, Ice and freezing rain, the tires never made me lose confidence.I did a lot of research about this tire, its very popular with taxis in NY City for winter. I figure if they can get around in 2wd boats they work and they do.

  3. Stop shopping / comparing and pick these Winter Force L T tires for your heavy pickup. I just drove home in sloppy – slushy – slippery snow, centre bare, ” track bare ” conditions and once again, I’m thrilled. I’ve tried others ( mostly a popular French brand of L T winters ) and there is NO comparison. In three winters of south & north Ontario driving I have completed your testing for you, these have better traction – last longer – and don’t get punctures ( knock on wood ), like other LT winters. There is nothing like stress reduction when forced to keep going when better judgment says you should postpone the trip and these are the best winter stress reducers ever. Safe travelling friends. Bob

  4. I’ve driven multiple different vehicles, front wheel drive, all wheel drive, and rear wheel drive with snow tires. My confidence level driving in snow and ice is just fine; doesn’t scare me a bit. That being said, this is my first set of studded snow tires on my 4wd Chevy. I bought them in 235/85/16 instead of the stock 265/75/16 for the thinner footprint; better in the snow. These tires feel like cheating…. We have recently experienced a large amount of snow and ice in our region and these tires have performed absolutely flawlessly! Accelerating from a stop, even in 2wd is nearly effortless and being able to maintain speed through most corners is a breeze! Still leave some extra stopping distance and don’t follow too close but even then these tires are great! The only good way to describe how they grip the wintery conditions is like a cats claws in carpet. They are that good. Will absolutely purchase again when this set is worn out!

  5. These tires with studs have been through two winters in Eastern Washington, and do just what I bought them for. They grab and hold on snowy and wet surfaces, Not noisy for studded winter tires. The truck feels very stable. Treadwear is excellent for the soft rubber it is. Can’t see any wear after about 3,000 miles.

  6. Excellent tire with no issues. Excellent in all winter weather conditions. I have a plow on my truck and these tires have served well. Most suprising is that I expect to get 50,000 miles on these tires.
