The SP Sport 5000M is Dunlop’s Ultra High Performance All-Season radial developed for Original Equipment use on coupes, performance sedans and sporty crossover vehicles. The SP Sport 5000M is designed to provide ultra high performance and all-season versatility by blending traction on dry, wet and wintry roads, including in occasional light snow.

The SP Sport 5000M molds a high performance all-season tread compound into a symmetric tread design consisting of a continuous center rib flanked by independent intermediate and shoulder blocks that blend traction, treadwear and rolling resistance to meet a wide range of driving conditions. Full-face, engineered crosscut sipes provide more biting edges for slush and snow traction. The tires’ internal structures include twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop’s Jointless Band (JLB) technology that uses spirally wound nylon to provide high-speed durability while it reduces weight and helps provide more uniform ride quality.

  1. This tire was original equipment on the Mazda3 GT. It has performed OK until this spring. In wet conditions (not even standing water) this tire will spin even with light throttle application. However at highway speeds it is bordering on dangerous as it will hydroplane with little or no steering control. These are not bald tires by any means. There is still 7-8/32 left on all four.

  2. OEM on my Mazda 3. 30K miles on them before they got to wear bars and by far the only thing I haven’t liked about my Mazda. Cannot say one positive thing about them. They are so bad in so many ways I nearly took the car back to the dealer in the first 60 days to demand a fix from the constant roaring and ride harshness. About this time I found out that this is common complaint for my vehicle. The price is also outrageous, as can easily purchase Michelin or Bridgestone for a similar or lesser price. Look for ANY OTHER TIRE before you decide to buy these.

  3. These tires came on the car from the factory and they are mediocre in the dry and pretty much useless in any other weather. They are, by a large margin, the worst tires I have owned. They are not useful for the kind of driving conditions in my area and I would even say they are unsafe.

  4. These came with my 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback and have to be the worst tires I have ever had in a vehicle. The wheel spin on wet pavement is horrible and people look at you like you’re crazy. Fast Corning is okay but the squealing for the tires happens very easily. I had to break heavily to avoid getting into an accident and the car was at 0km and was still moving thanks to the horrible grip on these tires. Currently planning on purchasing new tires.

  5. I never write reviews but feel compelled to write about this tire. There is no traction in wet or cold weather (above freezing). In warm wet weather they are slick and unsafe as well. Snow traction? Forget about it.

  6. I live in MA. Today was the first day the snow stuck, and it was an immediate no-brainer-I need new tires ASAP. It was only a dusting of snow, yet the car slid at every curve in the road. In the rain, I can be sure to have some hydroplaning at least once per drive. I was surprised to see the price on these. I was sure they were going to be under $75. I’ve been okay with the dry conditions. However, my husband, a bit more aggressive in his driving, has complained that the car doesn’t grip well, particularly in turns. I think the noise level is fine. When I make calls on speaker, I check with the other person and I’m always told that it isn’t noisy to them. The ride is very comfortable for my 45 minute commute. To sum it up, the rain and snow are the key reasons for replacing these. I do not feel safe with these tires.

  7. This tire is Lexus OEM, it is extremely difficult to find this tire in any tire store, Lexus dealer asked $213 each, when you have a broken tire on the way to work, you will have to spend $270 to get the tire replaced from dealer. $213+42+tax. Even in tire rack it is over priced. 171 USD each? Why not using the top rated “PILOT SPORT A/S 3+” for $141 each? compare to the price and the performance, I do not recommend buying this tire at all.
