The Turanza ER30 is Bridgestone’s Grand Touring Summer tire often used as Original Equipment on sports cars, coupes, sedans and SUVs like the Mazda Miata, BMW 3- Series, 7- Series and X5, as well as the Porsche Cayenne. It was developed to blend looks and handling with good noise levels and ride comfort, as well as provide traction on wet and dry roads. Like all summer tires, the Turanza ER30 is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

On the outside, the Turanza ER30 molds a summer tread compound into a symmetric tread design. Large rectangular tread blocks provide responsive handling and traction on dry roads, while lateral and circumferential tread grooves help evacuate water from under the tire’s footprint to enhance wet traction and reduce hydroplaning. Internally, the Turanza ER30 features twin steel belts reinforced by spiral wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area to enhance handling and high-speed capability. The Turanza ER30 features a rayon or polyester cord body (depending upon application) to enhance ride.

  1. Tires still have large amount of tread but going on long trip and want to be safe since it is snowing where I am going. These were the orginal tires on the car when bought. Concerned about driving in colder weather with these tires, we shall see.

  2. OEM tire for a passenger sedan; has an unjustifable 140 treadwear rating, the same sort of tires for Nissan GTRs and Porsche GT3s. Which, in happenstance, degrades it to the most impractical tire known to any motoring petrolhead. Tires are bald after 25,000 miles. Caliber is no better than a tire with at least 400 treadwear rating, so you are not paying for performance but satisfying a ridiculous marketing savvy by the geniouses at Bridgestone. I am opting for a Hankook Optimo 727 with a treadwear of 700. Previously had them on a Town Car and the tread never seemed to die; gripping/handling/comfort were equal if not superior to these Turanzas. WORD OF ADVICE: buy tires that save your wallet because in ordinary driving conditions you really do not need to focus on its athletic prowess. Tires that last long and grip the road, to whatever extent possible, should be your choice. I’m switching to the hankooks; riddance to Bridgestone forever.

  3. These tires are OEM from BMW and I like these tires except for the tread life. Currently the car has 197,000 mile and on the 5th set. I even got caught in a blizzard while driving through Vale Co. with very heavy snow, had to drive behind a snow plow and the tires performed extremely well, but I would definitely have a winter tire or a mud and snow (M&S) tire if I was going to be on snow / ice covered roads. These tires seem to average between 30K to 35k depending on your driving style. I would say around 30k to 32k with very spirited driving at highway speeds, great dry road handling and very good wet road handling. Had to change my driving style due to the gas prices and now seeing a higher tread life, but would like to see more tread life.
