Max Performance Summer run-flat tires provide temporary self-supporting run-flat mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph, even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss. They are designed for serious driving enthusiasts who want a combination of a performance appearance, competent handling and Z-speed rated (or higher) durability with enhanced dry and wet traction. Often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on powerful sports cars, performance coupes and high performance sedans, Max Performance Summer run-flat tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

O.E. Max Performance Summer run-flat tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle’s original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. run-flat tires’ performance category and specifications.

NOTE: Run-flat tires are only recommended for vehicles that are originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.

  1. I use my M as a daily driver but also as an instructional tool on the racetrack. 1.15 g cornering with 5 people in the car is incredible for such a heavy pig. Tire wear is expected to be high with performance like this. On my third set of these runflats. Now that the Pilot Supersports came out I will give them a try.

  2. Unbelievable handling in the dry for an SUV, especially paired with the adaptive drive option on the BMW. However, the ride comfort and noise are unbearable and the treadware is a joke. Front tires had to be replaced at 7k miles, rears at 10k. Went with the Bridgestone Dueler’s this time, hopefully they will last a little longer.

  3. These tires wear out quickly and become very noisy. I have moved on from run flats to normal tires and my X6 is a different car.

  4. 275/40-20 Front and 315/35-20 Rear, they are OEM on my 2011 BMW X5 Sport. Very noise start at beginning. Wear very quick after 10000 miles. About 20000 miles the front and is down to the wear bar, the rear still have 2mm left to go to reach the wear bar. Also they are directional tire, which mean I can’t rotate them! They are a sport tires and RF, so don’t expect comfortable ride. On dry road they are excellent, in wet they do OK. But don’t even think to use them on snow, not even a thin layer! I will not buy them for replacement.

  5. These tires came as OE on my X5. I can say without a doubt that these are possibly the worst tires I have ever owned on any car I’ve had in my 30 years of driving. The tread wear on these tires has been absolutely abysmal. They were at the wear bars at 12-14,000 miles? That’s ridiculous for any vehicle, let alone a vehicle that was as expensive as this one. These tires are run-flats, which thankfully I never had to test out, because I know the chances of them being able to be patched after a puncture are slim and none. Who would want to lay out another $450 for 1 tire. Again, ridiculous. Dunlop and BMW should be ashamed.Second, as they wear, they get much louder. To the point of, wow, is that really my tires that are that loud? Is something wrong with them? Anyone riding in my X5 immediately notices something. Yes, you do hear something, and its the tires! Wow, they say, are those the original tires? Yes, I say. Wow, how many miles on them again? Not nearly enough for them to be making that amount of noise, I say. Yikes, they say, remind me not to buy Dunlops. You got that right I say.Third, these tires are borderline dangerous. The sidewalls are extremely stiff because its a run-flat with low profile. They “Tramline” like crazy. What’s that mean? Anyone with these on an X5 can tell you.. they WILL follow the ruts in the road, and — forbid you take your hands off the wheel when the tire catches a rut – it will throw the X5 immediately right or left to follow the rut just like a rail car. Very dangerous, and scary when it happens. It’s like someone in the passenger seat grabbing the wheel and jerking it left or right without you expecting it.DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES.I would rate them lower if I could.

  6. Both excessive road noise and extreme wear makes these Dunlops the ABSOLUTE WORST tire ever made. BMW should, as a matter of good customer relations offer a large replacement discount to anyone experiencing complete tread loss before 12K miles. Other reviewers were way too kind, as only expletives would capture my true feelings about this product. I thankful my X5 is leased. This is my third and last BMW.

  7. i just ordered a complete set of pirelli,s after going thru 3 sets of Dunlaps, run flats, although I got great mileage from them (50,000 plus) on 3 sets, problem was flats, and this last set another flat and just thought a change was necessary. Ordered tires , then read review!!! Some of you guys are pretty tough on these products.(They ain’t cheap!!!)Will update after I,ve driven them 5,000 miles. And Tire Rack gave me a 20% discount on the one tire, “Nice!”
