The Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST (Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology) RunOnFlat (ROF) is an Ultra High Performance Summer self-supporting run-flat tire for sports cars, coupes and sedans. SP Sport 01 DSST ROF tires were initially developed for Original Equipment use by leading automotive manufacturers to complement the latest in vehicle design and offer temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete pressure loss. Like all summer tires, SP Sport 01 DSST ROF tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology (DSST) RunOnFlat (ROF) tires incorporate special sidewall reinforcements that support the weight of the vehicle even after sustaining air pressure losses that would render conventional tires immobile. While internal tire damage will likely make replacement necessary, DSST ROF tires are designed to endure being run on while flat for up to 50 miles at speeds up to 55 mph and provide drivers the temporary extended mobility necessary to drive through stormy weather and away from dangerous situations.

Original Equipment self-supporting run-flat summer tires are most often repurchased as direct replacements for pairs and sets of worn out Original Equipment tires and DSST ROF tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

SP Sport 01 DSST ROF tires feature a 100% silica tread compound that increases dry and wet grip while reducing rolling resistance and increasing treadwear. The tread compound is molded into an asymmetric Tri-Area-Tread design that is divided into three tread segments to blend sportiness and safety. The tires’ internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Dunlop’s Jointless Band (JLB) spiral wrapped nylon to provide high speed durability and feature a rayon cord-reinforced casing to enhance durability.


  1. Horrible OEM BMW tire. Forced myself to endure the harsh ride and deafening tire roar even at 25 mph. Tire started wearing unevenly and cupping on the outer half of the cross-section pattern at about 18K miles… Progressively got worst with wear. Suspension/tires balanced and aligned twice during 50K mile life. Tire pressure kept at factory specs and monitored weekly. The —- tire does have a long life. At 50K, I couldn’t stand it anymore and removed them for Michelin Super Sports.

  2. Stay away from the Dunlop RunFlat Tires. High failure rate with blowouts and poor treadware. Made the mistake of having two different sets of these tires, same issues.

  3. First time I’ve had run flats. Tire wear is unacceptable. Very expensive to replace. Have had sports cars for 50 plus years[ Porsches since 1965] and never went through tires so fast. Ride and handling are OK’

  4. These run flats are as rough as others have said. They were OEM on the BMW 135, and about 12,000 miles they became VERY LOUD! So loud they have even soured me to the car a bit, and I cannot wait until I can justify replacing them. The tread-wear is very good however, so I may well replace them before they wear out. They seem to do quite well in the wet, and I even used them all winter this year, though it was a very mild one. I will be looking to add to the sidewall height to enhance ride and as s side benefit to correct the speedo which is reading fast… Just TOO rough in this case; and this is coming from someone who left a 94 RX7 for this car!

  5. Horrible Tire. There came OEM on my 135i. I switched them out for non-runflats after one week. The ride is terribly rough. These tires are fine on a perfectly smooth road, but how often do you find that? BMW should re-evaluate their decision to use run-flats. I, like most drivers, do not accept the trade-off in ride quality that you get with run-flats. I replaced these with non-runflat Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s–the difference is astronomical—the Michelins give a much smoother ride on rough pavement, they are quieter, and they handle great. I have now had 4 different BMWs that came with run-flats–although run-flats have improved somewhat over the years, they are still, in my opinion, junk when compared to a quality non-runflat.

  6. Far too hard and noisy. Can’t wait to get them off yet tread ware is good so it may take a while.
