The Ventus S1 evo2 SUV (K117A) is Hankook’s Street/Sport Truck Summer tire developed for the drivers of high performance luxury SUVs and crossover vehicles. Designed to deliver Hankook’s ultimate balance of summer performance for light trucks, Ventus S1 evo2 SUV tires enhance braking and cornering performance in warm, dry and wet conditions. However, like all summer tires, they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Ventus S1 evo2 SUV tires feature a silica enhanced tread compound incorporating a high styrene polymer to improve wet braking performance and an optimized cross-linking system to improve the tire’s wear performance and reduce rolling resistance to promote vehicle fuel economy. This compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design featuring notched outboard shoulders and continuous outboard ribs to enhance handling response and cornering stability while inboard independent tread blocks promote wet traction. The staircase design of the edge of the outboard intermediate rib increases the tire’s contact with the road as the tire wears. Twin ridges in the bottom of the three inboard circumferential grooves dissipate heat at high speeds, as well as help direct water flow from under the tire’s contact patch. Four wide main circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction.

The tire’s internal structure includes two wide steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon to blend steering stability and handling with durability and braking performance. High density casing plies and a high stiffness bead filler enhance sidewall stiffness and durability.

  1. O.E. summer tire on my Macan. Surprised to see Hankook’s from the factory. Tires are pretty good, but like everyone else, wear is a huge issue. Less than 10,000 miles and the rears are completely bald. Would change for another brand, but the front have about half life left so I will get one more set for the rears and then change all four together. For the Macan, I recommend the N-rated Continentals.

  2. Just put these set of 4 tires last month, replacing Bridgestone O.E. tires. So far, best bang for your buck!!! Paid $350 minus $100 mail in rebate. Basically I bought these set of 4 tires for less than price of 1 O.E. tire. So far, so good, can’t complaint about it. I drive aggressively on the highway, these tires keep up with my driving style. So far, only driven for 1,000 miles, the only thing I don’t like is that these tires were made on the 50th week in 2015. Sat on the shelf for over 2 + years. Oh well, you get what you paid for. Thank you tire rack for these affordable tires!!!

  3. These tires came on my 2017 Ford Employer. As the tires got older they became noisier, and in cooler weather flat spotted. The thumping of flat spotting went away within 3 or 5 miles. They also got noisier at highway speeds. The biggest disappointment was wear at less then 40,000 miles. I realize some might say its your driving stupid but in my defense I traded in a 2013 Edge with 82,000 on Michelin tires that were a lot quitter. Can’t comment on traction or cornering.

  4. Only lasted 15,000 miles not even a year of driving all 4 tires are bald showing wire at 10 months. Called no warranty, can’t do anything about it. Mostly highway driving normal speeds road trips only

  5. Given the price point it was easy to make the purchase however the tires seem to wear quickly. I eastimate only 14000miles. They were rotated properly and I plan on getting allignment when I put my winters backon. The milage is splitted equally with the winters and the winters still have a whole lot of thread on them. I may spend a little etr this time to get better wear.

  6. This particular size was a great price so I stepped up from the stock 225/45-19. It’s about 2% taller so it slows the speedo down a bit but it also fills the fender a bit better. The set after rebates was under $200 so I couldn’t pass on the deal.I drive 36k/year and have a set of winter tires & wheels. I wanted a summer tire, not all-season. My OE Dunlop’s aren’t worn out yet so I stashed them in the basement to put on the car when I trade it.The ride is a bit softer and I also got to drop the pressure since they have a higher load rating than my 225’s. Great dry traction and now the car feels under-braked, barely able to engage ABS in the dry. I have pushed them in the twisties and have yet to hear them complain.Other tire tests have shown this tire to be excellent in the wet and I agree, no hint of sliding or hydroplaning. They are wearing fast, as expected. In 4K miles I’m already down over 1/32″ evenly across the surface. If they last 2 summers I will feel they are a value. If they cost as much as most 19″ tires I would look elsewhere…like >300 tread wear.

  7. Less than 40,000 miles on these tires and the front 2 are already showing wires. Waste of money. Pay the extra $20 to $50 per tire and go with a different brand with better reviews and a higher rating. TireRack, please stop selling these!
