The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T is Firestone’s Ultra High Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the drivers of Chevrolet C6 Corvettes. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is designed to provide temporary mobility in the event of complete air loss due to a puncture, along with responsive handling and traction in dry and wet conditions. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Firestone technologies used for Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T (Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology) features three core elements: CO·CS, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively leading to a more efficient tire that doesn’t significantly sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead, a more round structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear.

On the outside, the Firehawk Wide Oval RFT features high performance silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into an independent-block, directional tread design to blend responsive handling along with wet and dry traction, while circumferential and lateral grooves team up to provide hydroplaning resistance. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon ply to provide strength, stability and high-speed capability, as well as run-flat sidewall reinforcements that allow temporary mobility (up to 50 miles at 50 mph) in the event of air loss or a flat tire.

  1. Bought tires in August of 2016 all are terribly dry rotting car is a daily driver and taken care of, never actually looked at inside of tires while mounted on the car , did today though and I don’t even see how they are holding air , very scary tread on tires are average but inside rear treads are shredded.

  2. I’m back w/update on my FIRE HAWK,update!!!@10K miles,no scuffs,no issues!!!A very sound tire..The blistering Vegas Sun ,has not degraded the side wallz!!!*STILL:GOOD,cornering, traction wet traction EXCELLENT!!!THANK YOU ,FIRESTONE&TIRE RACK!!!STILL GOLDEN!!!

  3. These tires are horrible if you have to do any kind of corning your dead it feels like the car is going to flip over . I complained to the guys at fiestone and they said they heard this before but let them break in after 500 mi well they are exactly as losy as the day I bought them my advice stay away from firetone

  4. I daily drive my Corvette and put about 30,000 miles a year on it. Tires are very important to me as I do drive a lot! After almost 60,000 miles it’s time for a new set and I’ll be buying the same tires again. It’s hard to find a tire that will last that long on a sports car. I probably could get another 5,000 miles out of this set, but the insides are worn due to an alignment issue. Great tires!

  5. Just ran over a 3/4″ hexhead sheet metal screw….I heard that awful ,clack, clack, clack sound on every rotation of my tire……It was a 1/3rd.of the way in!!!!Pulled it out(I know,I gambled)MAAAAAAN!!!The tires GOLDEN!!!!….STILL!!!THANK YOU TIRE RACK&FIRESTONE!!!”BUY THESE TIRES”….

  6. Crossfires don’t have a spare — just the pump and “goop” in the event of flat. So, my comfort level is higher. Tires are, quite simply, TERRIFIC. Great traction, smooth, quiet and relatively long wear. I increased the size over OEM, 285/35R19 rear and 245/40R18 front. They fit great, no rubbing problems even cornering and dips. Funny thing is that this pairing of sizes is listed as “C6 Corvette ONLY”. I think sales would increase if it didn’t say this. And, the run-flat capability has been personally experienced — got a nail, went to get it fixed/patched and the tech FORGOT TO INSTALL THE VALVE. I drove for about 2 miles, stopped to get a cup of coffee, and noticed the tire/sidewall being flatter than normal. I didn’t even notice in the traction and handling.
