The Winter Maxx WM01 is Dunlop’s first-generation Winter Maxx Studless Ice & Snow tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossover vehicles looking for driving control in wintry driving conditions. Designed to increase confidence in cool and cold driving conditions, Winter Maxx WM01 tires enhance traction in slush, snow and on ice.

The main sidewall branding of the Winter Maxx WM01 reads “Winter Maxx”, so in order to differentiate the first generation from its successor, our naming references the pattern code WM01 branded immediately below the tire name near the bead area.

Winter Maxx WM01 tires mold a silica-enhanced Nano-Fit Rubber tread compound into an asymmetric independent block design to provide grip in cool dry and wet conditions, as well as in slush, snow and on ice. Miura-Ori shaped sipes, featuring a three-dimensional interlocking zigzag design, permit tread blocks to combine higher-density siping with enhanced block rigidity to promote snow and ice traction, dry road handling and even treadwear.

The Winter Maxx WM01’s Digital Rolling Simulation technology helps optimize tread pattern stiffness to enhance footprint pressure distribution for improved grip. Dunlop’s True Circle Profile distributes tire deflection forces along the sidewall to provide more control by better communicating tire performance limits to the driver. Its internal structure includes JointLess Band (JLB) Technology that spirally winds nylon reinforcing cord over the two steel belts to promote handling and strength, while polyester cord reinforced sidewalls promote ride comfort.

Winter Maxx WM01 tires meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Snow platform indicators (basically snow wear bars) are molded into the Winter Maxx WM01 tread grooves to inform the driver when beneficial winter traction will be reduced as the tread wears away.

Install Winter Maxx WM01 tires in sets of four only.

Due to the traction capabilities of the Winter Maxx WM01, Dunlop recommends using Winter Maxx WM01 tires only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

  1. This a great winter tire for the price point. I put 30k mile on this tire, which includes 2 winters and 1 summer. There is still enough tread for another winter. The tire was very responsive in snow and would quickly correct itself in a slide.

  2. I live in Buffalo, NY and I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone that has to drive in our type of conditions.

  3. I have used these for 3 seasons, 2 on a 2014 Buick Regal and 1 on a 2007 Lexus LS 460. These have been like night and day compared to all seasons, especially on the rear wheel drive LS. Plenty of tread left, should be able to get 3 more seasons out of them. Best to not drive them in average weather above 45 degrees to extend life, as they are soft and will wear rapidly in warm roads. Would buy again!

  4. I bought these in 2015, and they were still going strong 20k miles later when the Christmas Day snow storm of 2017 hit Erie. These helped me travel around in my tiny car in the snow. Long life, too. They still have deep trends on them as I put them away for another season.

  5. Bought these for my Fiancee who drives 40 miles to work one way. I’ve driven her car in heavy snow and it grips the road like a dry summer day! YES these tires will be fairly noisy on dry roads compared to any summer tire but they are a WINTER tire! These are awesome winter tires and I will be buying another set when these wear out, roughly 15,000 miles and tread and grip is still excellent! I rotate the tires every winter! Treadwear is never very good for winter tires due to the softer compound but so far these tires are holding up great!
