Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST is an Original Equipment (O.E.) self-supporting run-flat summer tire. Original Equipment (O.E.) self-supporting run-flat summer tires are an appropriate tire choice for sporty vehicles manufactured in the U.S., as well as those imported from Europe and Asia. Developed for use on new cars and light trucks, these tires offer temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture allows complete pressure loss, as well as provide a sporty blend of ride quality, noise comfort and handling, along with dry and wet traction. These tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology (DSST) tires incorporate special sidewall reinforcements that support the weight of the vehicle even after sustaining air pressure losses that would render conventional tires immobile. While internal tire damage will likely make replacement necessary, DSST tires are designed to endure being run on while flat for up to 50 miles at speeds up to 55 mph and provide drivers the temporary extended mobility necessary to drive through stormy weather and away from dangerous situations.

Original Equipment self-supporting run-flat summer tires are most often repurchased as direct replacements for pairs and sets of worn out Original Equipment tires and DSST tires are only recommended for vehicles originally equipped with self-supporting run-flat tires and a tire pressure monitoring system.

While we attempt to provide a picture of as many of these tires as possible, the pictures used to represent these tires cannot be guaranteed to be an exact depiction of each tire’s appearance because of the variety of subtle differences in tread designs and sidewall styling.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner’s manual.

  1. This is the third new tire since May, the tire sidewall is horrible. I drive this 650ix maybe 8K a year, never have I experienced a tire with such a weak sidewall. I have a 2015 Corvette with 19″ rims as well with run flats( Another brand), never an issue in the same amount of miles on it. Very disappointed in this performance tire, but locked in until I sell the car.

  2. WoW. Not sure to hate BMW or this tire. Why would BMW use this tire as OEM on a pretty heavy car like the 6 series. Guys do your self a favor and don’t consider this tire. They are bad and keep blowing one after the other while driving on the highway.

  3. Third BMW. The Dunlop came on the vehicle. They were fine for first year (not my daily driver). Last 3 months road NOISE has become unbearable to the point I was no longer enjoying my drive. Had them aligned and balanced to no relief! Especially loud on highway. Also had few occasions where felt like vehicle control was less than optimal (almost scary). Switched to Bridgestone Turanza …..noticeably better immediately!!

  4. Junk!! Avoid! After buying brand new and two months later, 6 tires lost due to sidewall bubbles. Hit any sort of pothole at 65 mph and it’s game over. Run over the same potholes in other vehicles and you hardly notice them.

  5. BMW you should be ashamed of yourselves for using such a crappy tire on a $100k car. I don’t know where you test your cars, but on US roads this tire —-s. On average roads it feels as if I am almost driving on the wheels directly not on rubber. If you are buying a 6 series save yourself some money and skip the M package with 20 in wheels unless you are prepared to live with this horrible set up. Vote with your wallet so these engineers at BMW can wake up and listen to what their customers are asking. In 30 years of driving and 5 BMWs this is the worst tire! Ironically, this my most expensive and luxurious BMW. Sure the car rides well on smooth roads but on average roads you will be driving on egg shells.

  6. One year and 9000 miles and I am told I need new tires very bad product and quality

  7. I have been driving this vehicle for about 14 months. I had Dunlap tires,SP SPORT MAXX GT DSST and within the past 6 months I have replaced three tires because of bubbles on the side walls. When you hit any size pot hole with this tire it will rattle the entire car. The ride is very hard. I was afraid to get out on any highway at any speed above 70mph. After the third ruined tire I decide to replace all four with non run flat tires. I’ll live with having to call a roll back if I have a flat but the difference in the ride with the replacement Michelin Pilot Sport AS is unbelievable. (PS I have a SP SPORT MAXX GT DSST with 75 miles on it, sitting in my garage if anyone is interested in buying it cheap!
