The Potenza RE070R RFT is Bridgestone’s Extreme Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R super sports cars. In addition to combining athletic capabilities on the street with extreme dry performance on the race track, the Potenza RE070R RFT also provides temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss.

However, like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, these tires are not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Potenza RE070R RFT features a high-grip tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design to combine handling with traction. Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks and several continuous inboard ribs enhance initial responsiveness and increase lateral stiffness to reduce the irregular wear that can occur during hard cornering.

The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality.  The structure of the Potenza RE070R RFT has been specifically tuned for the Nissan GT-R and features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.

  1. I mainly drive around town and some spirited runs through the mountains. The tires do very well for dry grip (I don’t drive in the rain with this car so I can’t comment on rain performance). The biggest issue is the inner front tire getting worn down really quick, but this is more to do with the GT-R than the tire. I’d recommend them and would possibly buy them as a replacement.

  2. Three months after I purchased my GT-R I put it on the track at Sebring. The alignment was set for track use by the dealership. After about 3 hours on the track the two front tires had no tread on the inside edge. Had to stop and replace tires. Rear tires are still doing well after 14 months and 15000 miles. So not sure that I can recommend track use with the alignment set for track use! I drive the car hard so the tires are holding up pretty well. Previously had two BMW M3’s with Continental original tires that usually lasted 18 months/24,000 miles.
