The Potenza RE070R R2 RFT is Bridgestone’s Extreme Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R super sports car. In addition to combining athletic capabilities on the street with extreme dry performance on the race track, the Potenza RE070R R2 RFT also provides temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even after a puncture has allowed complete air pressure loss.

However, like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, these tires are not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Potenza RE070R R2 RFT uses a revised asymmetric tread design that features wider, lower void outboard shoulders derived from the tires delivered as Original Equipment on the Nissan GT-R SpecV in Japan. Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks and several continuous inboard ribs enhance initial responsiveness and increase lateral stiffness to reduce the irregular wear that can occur during hard cornering.

The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality. The structure of the Potenza RE070R R2 RFT has been specifically tuned for the Nissan GT-R and features Bridgestone Side Support Run-Flat technology reinforced sidewalls to support the vehicle after a puncture causes a loss of air pressure.

NOTE: The tread design change prohibits mixing the new tire with earlier non-R2 tires.

While introduced as an Original Equipment tire on the 2011 model year Nissan GT-R, installing Potenza RE070R R2 RFT tires in sets of four is permitted on earlier Nissan GT-R cars.

  1. I don’t know why Nissan put crap tires on a GT-R. And run flats at that. RE 070 Bridgestones are terrible tires. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the Tire Rack ratings. Now I have stock size Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They handle much better, ride much softer and quieter, and should have been on the car from the factory. Don’t waste your money, and diminish your driving pleasure. Go Michelin and you won’t regret it!

  2. I bought this tire to use as a street/track tire and fell in love with it. I run P285/35R20 On all 4 corners so I can rotate them and the wear is great. The car pulls more dry corning G’s with this tire than with the wider factory Goodyear super car tires. The Bridgestone also handles better in the rain as the factory tires will have you all over the road. The Bridgestone’s are stiff Because they are a run flat but I like the added security if a tire go’s flat at over 100 mph I have a chance of controlling my car and getting it off the track. Added bonus is that when you find the braking point of traction with this tire it lets you know. It don’t just snap loose like other tires I have driven on. I took a friend for a ride on the track and the fist thing he said as we hit the first corner was “WOW this thing has more lateral Grip than mine does!” he was driving a AWD Evo on slicks. I have just purchased this tire in P305/30R20 cant wait to see how the wider non run flat size does!!

  3. Best tires ive ever bought if you dont care about money, and dont ride in the rain, while driving in rain including at high speeds the car jiggles around everywhere, and is hard to keep it straight and keep it under control, however in dry condition they handle incredibly good, they wont dissapoint, they are incredibly good tires, the ONLY issue is they ONLY last 5000 miles… its ridiculous, however if money is not an issue, get these tires, i drive like an idiot and have yet to crash… 0-60 2.8 seconds on a tuned GT-R with 684 HP, and 720 FpLb Torque, Traction control is ALWAYS off, and they drift amazingly good, we own a tuning shop and we do all kinds of crazy things to test products and we endorse these tires.
